On the Friday night it was Alex working, and these are 1-minute studies, done with medium compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of bond paper.
Gesture drawing like this has always been an important part of my art practice. It is one of the foundation elements - along with contour drawing, light and shadow, proportion and others - that I teach in my Introductory Figure Drawing course at the Toronto School of Art.
