2nd entry for Mar 1, 2012

I came back for part of the evening's drawing session. S-  was there. These are rwo 1-minute studies above, then a 5-minute one and a 10-minute one. All are done with hard U-Art charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Sketch paper.

On the short poses, I stuck to full-figure studies.  On the lower one, I felt the interplay of S-   's arms and legs was what was most interesting, but with his arms angling outwards away from his wrists, it was hard to draw them on their own, without having  the blank torso area looking awkward.

S-   's gesture poses are really good.  Not every drawer likes the challenge of dynamic action poses, but for those who do, Diane McGrath's "Drawing Room" session is one of the best action pose challenges. The Drawing Room sessions are two hours working with an aerialist or dancer doing floorwork and lots of poses on aerial equipment- some mix of silks, hoops and trapeze.
The sessions are restarting this Tuesday, March 6.  For more details, check their facebook page here.
