2nd entry for October 20, 2009

These were 20-minute poses. My drawing was fairly `on' that night, and I felt that F- was very present in his modelling on the evening - two elements that contribute to a good drawing night.

Dude, these are so ad azz. Let me ask you...how long have you been drawing and is this something that you also do professionaly? As you look at my blog you'll noticed that aside from the paintings I also do figure drawing as well...not so controled as the way you do it but I do regularly engage in it. I look forward to seeing more of your work. im a bit envious of you though. You deffinately keep me up on my toes and i make sure that my work can hold up next to yours. I didnt know I was so competitive. Lol

I've been working on figure drawing since I was at art school in the early '80s, so that's getting on for 30 years. I do exhibit work locally, and teach drawing as well so it is the main component of my life these days.

A bit of competition is a healthy thing. We have some excellent figure drawers in the Toronto area, and seeing their work makes me realize how far I can still improve.

But the main competition I believe always needs to be within: to push and to challenge ourselves.
